2007-2008 Judicial Case

Judicial Training Materials

The Judicial Branch is comprised of judges, a Court System, Attorney Teams and Witnesses:

Judges:

Within the Oklahoma Judicial branch there are seven judges:

1. The Chief Justice-The Primary judge of the Supreme Court and is the principal judge of the court system.

2.The presiding Judge-The secondary judge of the court system who handles the appellant cases which are similar to the Supreme Court cases.

3. District Judges-Northern and Southern District Judges help to ease the trial load.

4.The Attorney General-The head of the State Department of Justice and is a member of the Governor’s Cabinet. The Attorney General makes sure that all the trials are being handled smoothly.

Court System:

The Court System is the same for all of the Judges for the Oklahoma State delegation due to the size of the conference. There is always 1 case in process by 1 of 5 judges. The case tried for the state conference is the same case for all of the judges.

Attorneys Teams:

Attorney teams are comprised of two delegates who begin working together prior to the district conference. The attorney teams are given a prepared case to try before the court. The attorneys are arranged and given a time to try their case in front of the tribunal. Attorney teams are weeded out through a series of preliminary trials until the showcase round where the best of the best, the two remaining teams, are put up against each other for one final round.

The Case:

Each year the delegates get a new non-biased case that is prepared by an outside source, which they use throughout the year.
